Racism is wrong. There is nothing in the world more disgusting than a racist, except perhaps a paedophile rapist. Anyway...they're both pretty crappy.
Crash, which I went to see today, deals with this from many perspectives. Is there a limit where racism stops being repulsive and starts to be justified. At the end of the film, you'll have to make your own mind up. It's not typical sappy hollywood fare, this film is quite emotional and everything does not wrap itself up nicely, the loose ends from the plot threads will intrigue you, but might bother you if you like to see a solid conclusion for your characters.
Even though the plot contrivances are not always so original, this film is never EVER dull, because racism is just such a powerful issue. It becomes increasingly obvious as the film advances that the characters don't really exist as seperate parties, but they are part of a whole. Each one has his own axe to grind, and his own feelings or resentment for whatever reason. But nobody in the film can really be said to be Cruel or Evil. It's difficult to empathise with racists, but empathise you will. The performaces are impressive, every one of them, the director even manages to make sandra bullock seem quite respectable.
I suggest you go and see it, if you don't mind feeling a little teary eyed.
Edit: I didn't go and see it today, but I copied this review from my blog.

Hmm, you mention it's a film about racism, but what is the actual plot/story?

Lots of different plots, that all intertwine in some way.
For example: Mexican locksmith, who is often mistaken for a gang member and thief, but who is actually a caring father.
And black guys, who bang on about racial inequality, before waving guns about and stealing cars from white folks.
There are loads of characters.
